Dolls Prams page 1

Doll’s 3 Wheeled Victoria c1865.

Made by T. Mayers Perambulator makers of Leeds, this tiny little doll’s pram has needed very little restoration and is in almost original condition.

Dolls prams have been around almost as long as large prams for babies. It is possible that early example’s were intended as travelling salesman’s samples but firms of ’Babies Prams’ quickly realised that there was a lucrative markets for these little prams and many large firms produced dolls prams along side their large models. It is thought that some firms may well have produced dolls prams in new styles and designs to test the market for popularity.

The small pram on the left and the Wagonette below are thought to be salesman’s samples as both are rather on the small side for the average child.

Ludlow Doll’s Carriage c1875.

This delicate dolls pram with its surrey fringe on top, typifies the distinctive baby carriage style of The Ludlow Toy Manufactures of Vermont in America. These little dolls prams closely followed the styles of full sized prams of that time.

Doll’s Wagonette c1870.

Another tiny dolls pram made in the ‘Wagonette’ style, in good original condition, all it needed was a good clean and polish.
